Maya Angelou

Ms. Angelou has been an inspiration to me since I was in 9th grade in high school. Her stories, poetry , and movies are all so inspiring to me, espically her poetry. My favorite quote by Ms Angelou is, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel," those are true words. Maya was known for being an American poet, memoirist, and civil rights activist. She has lived through the 30s,40s,50s,60,70s,80s,90s, and 2000s.


She inspired me because through racism and struggles she manged to marry a man outside of her race and beat racism. She also stood up for the rights of not only the black race, but for every race. I remeber the first movie I saw her in was Medea's Family Reunion, which is when I heard he first read one of her poems.


When Ms Maya passed I was upset because my dream was to meet her and tell her how much she inspires me to continue with my writing and to help and inspire others likes she's done for me.
